I love S.Y.M. he is an InfoPath genius. I did not see that before but did try something similar. the only action you can't run from a field change event is close the form which he confirmed.

Re: Closing a form

I don't know if this will help you or not (and you may have already seen it), but here's a suggestion for working around the order of operation of rules & code.

Closing a form

I have done much research and understand that a browser form cannot be closed using code. I have created a submit function that dynamically names my template and library so I do not need to add this as a data source. this make rolling out the template to multiple locations very easy and only maintain one file. the save function takes the outerxml and stores it in sql then uploads it into the dynamic library. I can not use the formevent submit. I have to use save buttons. my first save button allows the user to create a template with prefilled in data and saves this "template" in a template library using the same method described above. the second save saves to the doc library. the problem is I cant close the form with the same click event. currently I run all my code switch my view and save the xml. then on the view the user can click a close button. I tried looking to see if there was a way to close the form on view change or field change, even using rules, but not successful. I cant add the close rule to my buttons because rules fire before code and the form isnt saved.

Any, any help. How can I close a browser form (2010) after I switch a view or change a field? can I run a button on view change?

thanks
