We have a solution for this but one requirement is that you have DBXL installed. (You can download a trial version from our web site).

With this solution, you can display your forms in a SharePoint data view using a DBXL method called GetListItems. Then, you can create a hyperlink in your data view and put the DBXL form address as a placeholder. The DBXL parameter (DocID, for example), will serve as the title of the link a person will click on in order to open the form - either on the browser (InfoPath Forms Server) or the client application, depending on your choice. This can all be done in a SharePoint list (SharePoint 2007, InfoPath 2007), as you mentioned above.

You can read the steps from this document.

Hope this helps.

Thanks,

Open sharepoint list item in infopath

I have a Sharepoint list, that will be populated by some process. The list will potentially have let's say, 25 columns of information, with each item of the list being one record with a key of let's say, Policy Number. The said process will create say, 10 records, so 10 policies.

The user will go to this list, click on Policy number 1, and this should open up an infopath template (previously designed and published here), such that all relevant fields in the form are prepopulated from the different column values for that policy. The user will then edit the form and save/submit it which should then save the form in a form library where we expect all saved forms to be stored. Meanwhile, policy number 1 in the list should somehow indicate (with an additional column or soemthing) that a form was created and saved for it in the form library repository.

Basically, how can I launch an infopath template from a sharepoint list (not a form library). I believe this can be done rather easily in Sharepoint 2010. We are using Sharepont 2007, Infopath 2007.

Thanks for any help!
