thanks for your time to answer. What I mean with "processing" is --- I have designed a custom lookup dialog with a gridview and a few other controls in it with ASP.Net. In the gridview I show a list of records from various datasources such as SQL Server or SharePoint lists. The gridview has all kinds of functionality (filtering, sorting) to choose a specific record. In this scenario I had thought that I can use a session variable to transfer some information between the "Infopath forms service" managed code and the "Lookup Dialog" managed code. Therefore I had store some information in a session variable in the context of the browser-enabled form --- and I have thought that I have access to these session variables inside the context of the lookup dialog. By the way the lookp dialog is a modal web page dialog and is stored in a separate folder below the "_layouts"-folder.

Unfortunately I can´t access the same session variables in the "web-enbaled Infopath form" and the "ASP.Net web page dialog" though they run in the same web application (Port 80).

My question is now if someone can explain me what I have to do that I can manage the session variables in "Infopath forms service" and "ASP.Net Pages" in the same web application.

Thank you very much for any tips.

Regards,

Re: Session Management "Infopath Forms" and ASPX-Page...

Hi Karsten,

When you say "processing" what are you talking about? Why not just do the processing inside the InfoPath form? It can handle .NET.

While it's possible to pass data to InfoPath XML Web Part in SharePoint as well as the browser form (hosted in Form Services), it's not something that is needed for 99% of scenarios. We have some advanced scenarios - for example, hosting task panes for Form Services - that require it. But, not sure your case requires that kind of architecture.

Session Management "Infopath Forms" and ASPX-Page...

Hello,

I have a web enabled infopath form and I´m looking to create a popup form (ASP.Net page) to do some processing and send the data back to the original Infopath form hosted in forms server. In ASP.Net we have sessions. and we can simply store the data in a session variable and later retrieve it from the session again but in this case, there is no way to manage the session. Unfortunately there is no management of session data between the ASPX page and the infpath form hosted in SharePoint in the same web application (Port 80).

That's where´s my problem. Any ideas on how we can manage session data between an infopath form hosted in sharepoint and an external aspx page (popup form) hosted on the same sharepoint server??

Thank you very much for any ideas.

Regards,
