Thanks for the response.

I'm working on a project that uses browser based infopath 2010 forms with dot net code behind to interact with SAP web services. As such the form data is submitted to SAP rather than saved in a form library, so there is no XML instance. One of the capabilities needed on the form is to allow the initator to add files to be uploaded to a Sharepoint 2010 Document library (in a specific folder). I was able to do this using the openfile common dialog box like you can do in an ASPX form, but I've discovered that this is not compatible with Infopath browser based forms. I'm pretty sure that the fileupload ASPX control wouldn't be compatible either.

I'm pretty close to success after some work late yesterday afternoon. I used the file attachment control in a repeating table, but then on the submit button I loop thru the nodes and extract the filename and the bytes, then added a reference to and use the sharepoint object model to do the upload. I have a little work left to do to smooth it out, but this will probably be my best shot at achieving my goal.

However, if there is a way to add the fileUpload aspx control to the infopath form and it be web form compatible, I would prefer this since it would not limit the file size to 4m.

Re: File uploader control

Hi Steve,

What are you trying to do? We can upload file attachments. We have XTPs to handle that but it requires qRules (i.e. our common code library).

Possibly, you mean you want to save the XML as a binary object or XML column into a SQL database table. We have a Web service that will do that too. Give us a testimonial, and we'll make it worth your while. :)

Thanks for being a loyal InfoPathDev dude!

:)

Re: File uploader control

How can I add a file uploader control to infopath?

Re: File uploader control

You could try manually modifying the .xsd for the web service data connection. Save your form as source files (make a backup copy first!) and open the correct .xsd for your web service data connection (usually the one with the highest number in the name) in a text editor. Find the definition for the field in question:

<xsd:element name="fileFieldName" type="string"/>

And change the data type from string to base64:

<xsd:element name="fileFieldName" nillable="true" type="xsd:base64Binary"/>

Save your changes, close the file, right click manifest.xsf in your source files and select Design. I've changed data types this way before for secondary data connections from web services to be able to use a picture control for a base64 string.

Re: File uploader control

that option is not available

Re: File uploader control

Drag it over anyway (as a text control, for example) and then right click and try to change the control.

File uploader control

I have a browser enabled infopath form which has a file uploder control. I have a web service which saves the binary value of the file into the database.

I want to show the binary values(files) saved in the database previously in a repeating table in infopath when the form is opened each time. I created a data connection which will return the uploaded values. but when i drag that on to design area and try to convert the control into a file uploader there is no option for that particular control.

how do i acheive this
