Well, the trial is free until September and we do guarantee that we will save you 50% the cost of developing your own Web service. The Basic license is $900 which works out to $75/month for the first year if you pay monthly. Then, you own it. Pretty cheap in my book.

Keep in mind that the Web service can be used for all of your InfoPath forms. If you just have 1 form, that $900 price tag (~4-5 hours of Clayton's time) may seem a little high, but as soon as you realize it can be used for all of your form templates, it's a great deal. It's also a huge deal when you look at all of the other features you get. Here's a short list of the big extra features:

Faster SharePoint submits - we halve the time it takes to submit a form to SharePoint (and the Web service saves the form to SharePoint anyway, so same result)

SharePoint query for super fast SharePoint list query performance - use Query Builder to define your queries and filter using parameters from your form

Dynamic mapping - change your form and you don't break submit. XML data is roundtripped with 100% fidelity

Migrate all existing documents using our migration tool - move your forms or import them in minutes (DBXL integrates with SharePoint)

Document level permissions - control who can read a form based on a field in the form

Audit tracking - keep track of when someone opens a form or submits

Image link handling - store your images in SQL to reduce the size of your forms

Active Directory Web service - bundled with the suite

One year of free support including 4 free online webinars - wow, that's worth >$500 right there

etc. etc.

We're not out to be amorally profitable. No sirree. We're here to help people save money - plain and simple.

If you think you can build a Web Service for less than $1000, let me know and we'll give you a better deal. Guaranteed. We are the lowest cost web service for InfoPath around. Just ask one of our many customers.

Re: InfoPath SQL Web Service

IT definitely can be done, as I did it on my own with no knowledge of writing code or making web services, and I got through all the authentication hurdles in SharePoint with the UDC file and SSO account, but it did require me piecing together a bunch of online articles that I found. I should have put them all together at the time, but I didn't think of that, so I can't share them with you now as a package, but I can tell you that there are sample web services out there that do most of the work for you. You just have to change the connection string to mate to your SQL server.

Re: InfoPath SQL Web Service

It's far more than I need right now, and the pricing in out of budget.

I just need a simple web service.

Re: InfoPath SQL Web Service

Did you give up on DBXL v2.3? :(

InfoPath SQL Web Service

I am trying to create a web service that will take information from a browser enabled form on SharePoint and submit it in a SQL Database.
