But ddwrt namespace has such function as UrlEncode.

{ddwrt:UrlEncode(yourlink)}

In case if you'll need to replace something not url related in SPDesigner:

concat(substring-before($MyVar,' '),'MyMightyReplacedString',substring-after($MyVar,' '))

Re: linking to browser form in email

Sure. There is no way to do that in SharePoint designer. It does not provide even basic string.Replace functionality.

My forms library has an attached SPD workflow which sends an email, but I notice that the Current Item : Url Path does not produce a link that causes the form to open in the browser!

So, I copied the URL from an actual open form and so used:

http://mysite/myformssite/_layouts/FormServer.aspx?XmlLocation=[%My Forms Lib:URL Path%]&Source=http://mysite/myformssite/My%Forms%Lib/Forms/AllItems.aspx&DefaultItemOpen=1

This is pretty nasty as it's very hard-coded but I can live with it..however.. My Forms Lib does contain spaces, so the overall URL delivered in email is:

http://mysite/myformssite/_layouts/FormServer.aspx?XmlLocation=/myformssite/My Forms Lib/myform.xml&Source=http://mysite/myformssite/My%Forms%Lib/Forms/AllItems.aspx&DefaultItemOpen=1

The Current Item URL Path parameter returns the library name, not url encoded, so the spaces break the link in email!

So, how does everyone else tackle this surely very basic need when there are spaces in the list or site name?

Thanks,
