I agree that there seems to be no way to avoid publishing multiple times for different environments, but there might be some kind of tweaking for this..? But I seriously doubt it because especially when you sign a fully trusted form with a digital certificate that certificate is mapped with a certain URL(environment). But not giving up hopes, if anyone have a solution, please recommend.

Regarding the point you mentioned, I got it worked in a different way, even more better/flexible way. In the submit event in the code behind, I get the current url of the browser and submit the form automatically to that form library. In this approach I am avoiding adding secondary xml datasource and also, no hard coded url for submission.

Thanks!

Re: HOW TO: Managed form templates - Publish once and deploy in multiple environments

Hello,

I assuming that you are using the code for you solution. In the solution, we have to add one secondary xml file. In that secondary xml have the node called share point url which consists of that user defined url. And this node value user is able to change while publishing the form.

In our formcode.cs file we have to modify the code as get the share point url value from above added secondary xml file before submit form to share point.

We cannot avoid the publishing the form to different environments. Each and every publishing url is different and that should be specified in secondary xml after that only we can publish to other environment.

HOW TO: Managed form templates - Publish once and deploy in multiple environments

I have a set of >100 InfoPath forms each having its own code behind. These are fully trusted forms. When I publish the form to a SharePoint/Forms Services environment, in the 2nd step of the wizard, I have to provide the URL of the sharepoint server lets say http://spdev for Dev environment.

Now, later if I want to have those forms, in my QA environment, I have to re-publish the forms and put http://spqa as the value.

This goes on and on for Pilot, Stage and Production environments. If the number of forms is limited then I can republish for each environment, but how can I handle this kind of situation where I have more than 100 forms to publish. This is not just time consuming but a lot of pain.

Please advice!
