Thanks for your reply, trying to stay away from code (not one of my strong areas). Got aroung the problem by using optional sections (5), not the best solution but it works!

When you are setting up the promoted properties in the InfoPath designer (Tools | Form Options, I believe) there are choices for what data to get promoted when you have repeating data. One of the choices is merge, another is first, etc.

Keep in mind that you cannot actually promote repeating rows of data, you'll need to do some coding to populate a SP list if you want something like this. Instead, merge will take each repeating row and make a concatenated string from the field. For example, if you have 3 rows like this:

Red
Green
Blue

then your merged SP column will be "Red, Green, Blue" (actually, I'm not sure whether the commas will be in the string or not--but you get the idea).

when publishing a form to a sharepoint lib. using repeating sections and then creating a view in sharepoint using the repeating section only the first item in the repeating section shows in the view. IE I create a meeting agenda form with action items for the meeting in a repeating section, I publish and create a view for each person to view only thier action items but only the first action item in the repeating section shows up. someone on the technet newsgroup metioned an option when publishing when selecting columns for sharepoint to change the field fuction attribute from first to merge. I can't find reference to this option in any of the books I have. Also when trying this it doesn't allow dates to be merged (action item due dates)
