I just did a quick test, and it seems if you create a view that is the default view for viewing (that's an ugly sentence right there) then any buttons are not displayed. So my guess is that no, you won't be able to do this.

Edit Button

Is it possible to create an edit button on an InfoPath Form? I'd like to remove the ribbon from the browser form and create an edit button. So when you open the item from SharePoint it pops up in view mode, then when you click the edit button, it opens the form in edit mode. Is this possible?
Thanks
