Include the template in the folder with the other forms.
2. Change the "href" tag referencing the template file for the auto-generated forms to not use any sub-folders. Just the file name works. (e.g., "href=MyTemplate.xsn".)

I'm pleased, looks like InfoPath is going to work for us.

Re: The form template cannot be opened bc it was created during preview

The problem has gone away. I have found out that any change to the InfoPath template, no matter how seemingly minor, requires my SSIS task writing the XML to change. I have managed to bulk-generate the forms and they can be edited in InfoPath.

I'm trying to figure out how to distribute this to other people, while keeping in mind that the XML is specifying a template file in a directory that only I see.

The form template cannot be opened bc it was created during preview

Hello InfoPath People,

I am trying to bulk-generate InfoPath forms for other people to work with. I created a template that meets the needs of the clients. I went to preview mode and saved an XML file. Then I created an SSIS package to create Infopath forms that all resemble this XML file, with some minor changes to distinguish each one from the rest.

When I attempt to edit any one of these bulk-generated InfoPath forms I get the error message, "The form template cannot be opened because it was created during preview." I am trying to determine if it is possible to change the XML so that each bulk-generated InfoPath form can be edited.

I don't have access to a SharePoint server. I understand that the directive specifying the location of the manifest file is unique to me; i.e., it begins with: c:\Users\{ My Name }\AppData..) I was hoping the end-users can work with my bulk-generated forms if t hey also have the XSN template in the same folder.

So, I am interested in knowing if there is an easy way to get past the "created during preview" error that InfoPath is throwing. In addition, I am interested in any suggestions on how to bulk-generate InfoPath forms that doesn't rely on SharePoint.

Thanks,
