So it sounds like the form is a SharePoint List form - the directions you link to are for publishing a regular form to a form library. I think you can just add a new column to your list and then when you edit your form it will be available to you.

Re: Create a new field and associate with InfoPath template

Hi Hilary - After opening a Sharepoint list item, the InfoPath form I'm trying to change is loaded.

Re: Create a new field and associate with InfoPath template

Hi - is this just a regular form?
http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/infopath-help/add-remove-or-modify-sharepoint-library-columns-or-site-columns-HA010103003.aspx

I am using the instructions in the "Specify document library columns when you publish a form template to an existing document library" section of the article. Everything seems to work until I get to the dialog box that shows "the columns listed below will be available in Sharepoint sites...". I click on the "Add" button and select "(None: create new column in this library)" in the "Site column group" dropdown. After typing in the name of the field, I get the following message:

"Non-repeating groups are not supported as document library column names". Please tell me what I'm doing wrong.

Should I be creating it in Sharepoint first and then update the template?
