Ok Thanks Hilary I'll give that a shot! Just when I think I'm done with a form, I'm starting to learn about little complications like this that keep popping up when I start to test it.. Guess I will learn over time about these sort of things. Really appreciate the help!!

Yeah, people pickers are a bit of a bear that way. I think I'd probably add a field to the data source (doesn't have to be on the form canvas) that is invalid if the conditions are met. I'd add a little calculated value next to the people picker that is a red asterisk, and hide it if the conditions are met. Or, you could use a calculated value with text, like "You must select a person" or something - I mean, the issue with using a field the user doesn't have access to for validation is you don't want the poor user to get stuck. So you have to get a little fancy to make sure they KNOW what they need to do. :)

Hello All, Pretty new to Infopath 2010 - just started new job in past 2 weeks and have an issue that I couldn't find an exact answer to. Here is my issue: I have a drop down list named (Active Analyst) that when set to 'Yes' populates a separate section that has a Person Picker called (Analyst Name). I need the Person Picker to be a required field (only if the Active Analyst drop down is set to Yes) I have previously done this with other fields by using Validation Errors, but Validation is not an option for the Person Picker or the Section itself.. I also cannot use any code trying to accomplish. I had a general idea that maybe I need to set a hidden field with a value or something similar just not sure that's the right direction. Really appreciate any help someone can give me.. And on a side note, this Forum is the best resource I have been able to find and has made my first 2 weeks much less stressful using InfoPath - so thanks again!!
