I have put together a list in Sharepoint 2010 and have an infopath form based on it. I need to create an ID column in a particular format. It has to be 3 columns, a number incrementing from 50000. The 3 text characters come from a dropdown which I have based on a second sharepoint list - that part works fine. If I change the dropdown the 3 characters change in accordance with the rule I set. The next and bigger problem is the numeric part. I had thought I could add 50,000 to the ID and that would force the number to be unique but when the rule runs

concat(Prefix[ProjectGroup = ProjectGroup], 50000 + ID) gives NaN for the number part. I'm assuming that this Nan thing is something to show that the ID is not available since the form has not been submitted and written to the list. Therefore, is there an easy way around fixing this? I'm something of a novide with InfoPath as I've only been using it a couple of weeks.

Tony
