Hi im still struggling with this,. ive followed a post by warrtlon about a year ago,
The methods sounds what im looking for.
Basicaly, my form consists of the following (MyFIelds)
Cham_TAG ( this is the field that will be used to get the details )
FName
SName
Loc
COMPNAM
Encry
War (These will be the fields that need populating when CHAM_TAG data is entered and matches a record)

I have also a data connection thats set to receive data from my sharepoint list ( laptopAssest)

I set the CHAM_TAG field as a dropdown to gather data from the list, which shows all the tags on the sharepoint.
however when data is entered, i get no results for a change in FName, or if i do all i get is the very first record in the list, this doesnt update when a different CHAM_TAG is entered.

All the entries on sharepoint are ID based, so 1,2,3 etc etc.
how can i get this form to push out details related to the CHAM_TAG and ID, i just cant work out the method of it all.

Please help
ive attached a screenshot to sort of show people .

Re: Populating Fields based on a verification

How would one set the connection thats specific to what data we need to get?

I was wondering if the above was possible? . basicaly we have a excel sheet that contains around 500+ lines of assets for our company mostly laptops and mobile phones, i plan to make 2 sharepoint lists 1 for phones and 1 for laptops etc.

I wanted sort of a lookup feature, with the asset tracking we relie heavily on specific 2 fields, our asset tag and the dell service tag for laptops, and IMEI for phones.

what i was looking for was when these 2 fields are entered the user filling out the form pushs a button, which then performs a look up on to the sharepoint library,
if the information is found it populates the information fields, ie name office computer name etc.
if the information doesnt exist it shows some sort of warning ie "No Information Found, Please Enter Manualy". Can this be done? ive tried looking on the forums here but couldnt find any information on populating specific fields with specific information.
