I mean:

Hide field 1 if field 2 = "oranges" OR Hide field 1 if field 3 = "grapes" works just fine as separate rules doesn't it?

This:

If Field1 is equal to Variable or
If Field2 is equal to Variable2 or
If Field3 is equal to Variable3

Seems as if it could easily be 3 separate rules and still work correctly... But, as long as you have something that is working the way you need it to, problem solved. :)

Re: Rule automatically split into multiple rules

It's a bit rough since they are OR conditions and separate rules will not work, so I just reworked my view and deleted the section, created a calc value and two dummy fields, and if any of those variables are met I created rules on the fields changing to adjust values in the dummy fields and populate the calc value field.

Perhaps this isn't best practice, but so far it is all that I could think of in the short time I have to work on this today :/

Re: Rule automatically split into multiple rules

Yes, I have seen this before - and another forum poster had started a thread on it at one point (but I'm having a little trouble locating it right now) - I've only seen it on formatting rules. It is a pain because you end up having to rename them to get meaningful names - I've started just creating separate rules for formatting with or in IP 2010 and 2013.

Rule automatically split into multiple rules

I have a section that I am trying to hide based on a rule with 3 conditions:

If Field1 is equal to Variable or
If Field2 is equal to Variable2 or
If Field3 is equal to Variable3

HIDE THIS CONTROL

My rule saves properly (or so it seems) after I save and close out, or switch views and come back to this specific view the rule automatically converts into 3 separate rules, the first of the three rules keep my name, the other two are named Rule 1 and Rule 2.

My rule as it uses OR conditions makes 3 separate rules useless and my view shows up with this section when I do not wish it to...

Has anyone seen this before? I have other sections hidden with multiple AND rules that do not automatically split like this... but this is the first I have used OR in the conditions.
