I guess it all depends on what you want to accomplish. I wanted folks to be able to edit/update any an existing document any time in the future without creating a new document. What I did was go into Submit Options and choose the Manage button and select the Submit in the Data Connection area. I checked the Allow Overwrite if File Exists and then created a name formula that was the ticker of the security being entered in the form concatenated with the date this ticker issue was discovered. This will provide a "relatively" unique name as it will be highly unlikely that a ticker would be entered twice in one day or even in a week. And by using date instead of the now() function the time component is not attached which would always make the name unique and create a new instance upon every edit. I hope this helps others.

Re: editing an existing record in library creates a new record

We aren't like that here - please let us know what the issue and resolution were if you have time - it may help someone else. :)

Re: editing an existing record in library creates a new record

I am sorry. I continued looking and found my issue and resolved it. I think most forums discourage users from answering their own questions so I won't. If anyone asks I will.

editing an existing record in library creates a new record

When I edit an existing record in library it creates a new record. Basically it is creating duplicates. I want to be able to go into an existing record via InfoPath form and just make changes not create another new record. Am I missing something in the set up?
