Your email VBA code that triggers will have to open the XML and query it, but you'd have to do a very similar thing if the email body was XML. So, I don't think you gain anything by switching the XML from the attachment to the email body. We've done Outlook VBA plugins that parse XML files attached to emails and do stuff with it. For an hour or two of time, we could share some code with you.

Good luck,

Patrick

email form as XML

I want the completed form to be sent to an email address as XML rather than as an attachment or image because the recipient mailbox will process the form based on the XML code.

ie:
the user fills in the form and one of the XML lines displays:
IT

so the rule will say (psuedocode):
if department = "IT" then assign work order to the XYZ team

I know how the recipient mailbox will handle the code. I'm just not sure how to get the submitted form to email the XML code.

I'm using InfoPath 2010.

I will probably post the form in our SharePoint site but I don't NEED it to be uploaded to a SP library or anything like that. Although if that makes this easier or is necessary that is certainly doable.

Sorry if this is the wrong section to post this question.
