Hi Hilary,
Ive managed to do it, instead of tryin to set the field with a specific text,
I changed the control to dropdown, and added the values that were required.

Its still not applying the change to the data entry field, I have applied the following conditions to all 3 of the fields (APP_SECTOR,APP_LEVEL and APP_TYPE)

APP_SECTOR "is equal to" health ( this is the actual value of the displayed item )
and
APP_LEVEL "is equal to" 2 ( again the value )
and
APP_TYPE "is equal to" frame ( again the value of the displayed item )
Set fields Value: QUALIFICATION-dataentry = "Health & Social Care"

Okay - you want your rule on the control that changes, not the target field. Remove the rule you have on QUALITIFCATION-dataentry - you don't want the field resetting itself.

Based on your conditions, you need the same rule on three fields:

APP_SECTOR
APP_LEVEL
APP_TYPE

Rules fire when the field the rule is on changes. So, right now, your rule is only on APP_SECTOR. If you set it to "health" but APP_LEVEL and APP_TYPE are blank, your rule won't fire because the conditions won't be met. That's why you'll need the same rule on all three of those fields so that QUALITIFCATION-dataentry is set correctly when any of them change. You'll probably want to first add an action to clear the field as well - so that if the APP_LEVEL changes from 2 to 1 you don't leave the previous value in QUALITIFCATION-dataentry. Hope that makes sense!

Hi Hillary, The dropdowns are as the default. so health and social would have a display of health and social, are you saying to change the Value to something shorter? ie Value= health Display=Health & Social Care, then use
APP_SECTOR is equal to health, rather than Health & Social care? If so ive tried this and still the field remains unchanged, ive tried adding the rule to the "Data to be changed" field, and to the drop down box aswell.

Does it matter what control the rule is on? as the outcomes the same?

Are your dropdowns using different fields for Value and Display? If the dropdown is using an ID for the value, it would need to be set to the correct ID for "Health & Social Care" rather than the text.

Hi peeps,
Im fairly new for infopath.
Ive been tasked with creating a signup form, for our buisness.
Untill now i havent realy had that many issues in relation to infopath.....untill now.
Basicly, we have 3 dropdown fields, APP_SECTOR, APP_LEVEL, and APP_TYPE and QUALIFICATION-dataentry.
These contain this data:

QUALIFICATION-dataentry this is the field which data id need changing

APP_SECTOR::
Health & Social Care
Childcare
Functional Skills,

APP_LEVEL::
1

3
5

APP_TYPE::
Framework
QCF Only
Functional Skills

What im trying to achive is have some rules set up so that a Fields Value is changed to a specific text, when certain fields of the dropdown boxes are met.
For example,

I have this Rule so far

APP_SECTOR = "Health & Social Care" and
APP_LEVEL = "2" and
APP_TYPE = "Framework"

Change Field Value QUALIFICATION-dataentry = "Health & Social Care"

I think the ruling is correct and seems straight forward, but when the dropdowns are change to the above no data is displayed?
am i doing something wrong here?
