I'm using InfoPath 2010 and making webcompatible template parts and putting them into a XML-InfoPath webcompatible form template.

It is only the validation rules that loose their names, and it is very frustrating.

I thought for a moment that it was happening because I had the same rule name for several fields, or because my rule was in a section, or because I had more than one rule on a single field, but it happens every time.

Is this a bug or am I getting at this the wrong way?

I suppose an alternative way is to save a C#-codefile as text somewhere and define the common validations there instead of in the template parts. Is there an easier way? (Sadly, template parts do not support using code directly).

Any suggestions?

Template Part Losing Rule Names

Hi,

When I create a template part with rules, I give each rule a meaningful name in the "Details for" field.
After I add the template part to my form (add it as a custom control), all my rules of type "Validation" are renamed back to "Rule 1".
The "Formatting" and "Action" rules all keep their names.

Is this a normal part of InfoPath or am I doing something wrong?

I tested this with a blank form and a template part that contained 3 rules - one of each type.
I actually have a template part that contains 25 validation rules that needs to go onto 10 forms - I don't want to have to rename 250 rules on these forms.

Thanks
