As Ernesto pointed out - these different types of forms have different controls available to them.

Re: How to add a repeating section on an existing form

Then how can I have a form that has a repeating section (with history) which functions correctly but I can't copy the same control. In other words, I have a form in infopath I open up. The repeating section is on the form and shows the repeating section and captures the history. I would expect to open up InfoPath and insert a similar control.

My guess is that there is some behind-the-scenes configuring that is not apparent. Is there a way to expose the form's config, settings, etc.?

Re: How to add a repeating section on an existing form

InfoPath list forms have a locked schema (which means the schema is locked to the list and you cannot modify the schema), plus list forms cannot handle repeating data. Those are likely the reasons why you cannot add a repeating table.

Re: How to add a repeating section on an existing form

I am pretty sure that the form is SharePoint List form. Not sure how to check this. I have attached a couple of screenshots.

Re: How to add a repeating section on an existing form

Can you check the form type? Is it a SQL bound form? A SharePoint list form?

The type of form matters; certain controls are not available for certain form types, and sometimes the form schema is locked as well.

Knowing more about your form will help. If you can, you can attach the form itself or screenshots via the Options tab when replying. Thank you.

How to add a repeating section on an existing form

I have an exisitng form and I am unable to add a repeating section. I have a template I can load from our library which has the repeating section the way we want it, however, I am not finding the repeating section control to replicate this feature.
