I did check and make sure that both the cell and picture button have no padding on any side, but I still get that gap on the right side.
You might want to make sure you reference this fact in any training that you give that goes over the 'chrome' lab. It wasn't made clear to us that we could not do this in a browser form.

Re: Images for banners and tabs not displaying in webform after it's published to SharePoint

Hi Juli,

I ran into this issue before and believe that setting the background image of a table cell is not supported on the server. InfoPath will strip out the background after you publish, which is why it works in the client and not in the browser. So this is in fact a limitation in IPFS.

That said, I do have a few workarounds that may work for you:

Setting the background of the entire form will work in the browser, so if you simply wanted to set a gradient background on the whole thing that should work. But it will be tricky if you wanted it specifically for a single table cell.

You can insert an image and set it to the size of the table cell. If you wanted to use a resource file that is possible. You'll have to open up the view.xsl file and find the reference to the image. It should look something like EA127D.jpg. Rename this file to the resource you want to use like gradient.jpg. This will use the same file across all your views instead of copying the same image over and over.

You can use a picture button as you mentioned. To remove all the whitespace, make sure that the cell itself has 0px padding on all of the sides and also that the picture button control itself has 0px margins are all sides.

I've attached a template that shows you how to do options 2 & 3. Hope this helps!

Re: Images for banners and tabs not displaying in webform after it's published to SharePoint

You are correct. We are using SharePoint 2010 sp1

I figured out another way to do this using picture buttons, but there is one slight problem. I want the header to be the same on each view. I can either insert a picture, which means there will be that additional picture on each view making the form larger, or I can use a very large picture button and just disable it, which allows me to use one picture as a resource file.

Doing it this way though causes there to be a gap on the right hand side between the end of the button and the cell. I have made sure that there is no padding anywhere that should affect this but I can't figure out how to get rid of this gap. Notice the white space between the right edge of the button and the cell border on the image

Re: Images for banners and tabs not displaying in webform after it's published to SharePoint

Hi Juli,

We're looking into this and will get back to you shortly. What version of SharePoint are you using? I'm guessing 2010 since that is the version of InfoPath. My hunch is that this could be a limitation of InfoPath Form Services.

More soon,

Patrick

Re: Images for banners and tabs not displaying in webform after it's published to SharePoint

It was a training that Qdabra gave, but they have this on their site which is the same thing.

Here is an image of what I am talking about. The picture on the left is what it looks like in Infopath and in the preview. The picture on the right is what it looks like when opened on SharePoint. Both have the same image added as a resource file and then added in the .xsf file.

Re: Images for banners and tabs not displaying in webform after it's published to SharePoint

Can you give a link to this lab (training)?

Re: Images for banners and tabs not displaying in webform after it's published to SharePoint

I also uploaded the chrome sample that was included in the lab (training) to see what it looked like and it does the same thing. The images do not display.

Images for banners and tabs not displaying in webform after it's published to SharePoint

I followed the lab for the 'chrome' settings to make my form nicer and created a banner and some tabs. I followed the instructions for getting those into the form by editing the .xsf. They display beautifully in the preview in Infopath 2010, however when I publish the form (administrative style) and then upload it as a content type it no longer displays my tabs or the banner image.

Nothing in the tutorial indicated that this would not work for an administrative browser form.

Help please.
