I think filtering should work just fine. So set a default value for your fruit_ref field, that is - the value of the SharePoint list data source's fruit reference filtered such that fruit = your main data source's fruit (combo box) field.

It may look something like:

ShP_Fruit_Ref[ShP_Fruit = Form_Fruit]

or using XPath:

xdXDocument:GetDOM("Fruits")/dfs:myFields/dfs:dataFields/d:SharePointListItem_RW/d:ShP_Fruit_Ref[../d:ShP_Fruit = xdXDocument:get-DOM()/my:myFields/my:Form_Fruit]

Does that make sense?

lookup in infopath 2010 form

Hi there,
Any assistance on how to achieve the following would be much appreciated.

I have a sharepoint "fruit" list containing two columns:

fruit and fruit_ref.

. On my infopath 2010 form I have two fields - fruit field(combobox) and fruit_ref field.
The fruit field combo box uses a data connection to lookup the sharepoint fruit list. This works and I can select a fruit.

What I'm trying to achieve is when a user selects a fruit from the fruit combobox the corresponding fruit reference is filled into the fruit_ref field.

e.g user selects banana, the fruit_ref field populates with ba.

Any ideas on how to achieve this?

Thank you.
