I was just of the understanding that the standard submit button would cater for this.

Hopefully this works but the only concern I have is for the forms that require this function they would have the submit button in a difference place - assuming I cant overlay my new submit button over the existing one in the toolbar??

Hope that doesnt sound too pedantic!

Re: InfoPath 2010 - Form Submit Rules - Stop Closing Form After Submit If Rules Fail

Rather than let InfoPath allow submitting a form with no attachments to receive an error, you can be a little more proactive and don't even allow the user to submit the form until an attachment is added. Create a submit button on the form. Add rules to the submit button to submit data and close the form after. Now you can add formatting rules to the button to either disable or hide if the attachment count is 0. This way the user won't even be able to submit the form if there are no attachments.

InfoPath 2010 - Form Submit Rules - Stop Closing Form After Submit If Rules Fail

I am new to Infopath, so this question may seem trivial.

I am using InfoPath to design my SharePoint 2010 forms.

I have an attachment field that I would like to make mandatory and the suggested to do this is to add a Form Submit rule and check for the count of attachments added, if this is equal to zero then do not close the form and message prompt the user.

When I go into submit options and select Perform custom action using rules, InfoPath does as I say and checks if there are any attachments and if there are none it displays a message to screen. However because at the end of the Submit Options it says After Submit Close the form, the form is always closing whether the rules have been met or not.

I need a way to close a form if the submit was successful, but keep it open if it failed.

I cant see a way to do this yet no one else on I can find is complaining of the same issue, and I dont want to spend anymore hours on the subject!!

Many Thanks
