External Item Picker or Dropdown

Hi, I have 2 problems that I need some help with. I am building a infopath form to capture Purchase Order Requests. My problem lies in that I need to use the external item picker to allow the user to select a vendor. I have over 1000 vendors. So I would like them to be able to use the external item picker to search and select the vendor they want. When they select the vendor I would like to display additional details in the form about the vendor. How should I do this?

Second problem is that when using the external item picker in a infopath form I am unable to save the form to a form library. I keep getting an error that says “There has been an error while processing the form. “ Try again or Exit Form. Really descriptive! Any help on either of these issues would be really great. Oh and a third question has anyone actuall found a good tutorial on how to use the external item picker? I am now on page 5 of my google search with no hope in site. Thanks
