I should have mentioned, though, that the user is opening the form in the InfoPath client. The form was not designed for the Web. I know that IE's settings sometimes touch things in ways that aren't readily apparent, but would this still interfere in this case?

Also, I just learned from the other user that they're able to open "other forms" just fine. I've asked for clarification regarding the source of those other forms (ours or the other org's).

If the form was originally published to our network, would I have to have the user (or the local IT support) republish the form to a local network for it to be trusted there?

Re: "...the system administrator has disabled opening form templates from the Internet..."

Hi Bill,

welcome to our forum. Regarding your question I would guess that that the word Internet in the message is the key to a solution. Please have a look at the site list in the advanced settings of the security part of IE. I would believe that the address of the web server is not effectively in. If you add the appropriate address then it should be possible for any user to open the form because then the site is trusted for your users.

If this is not the solution --- then there is probably a Global Policy Object
(GPO) blocking access to .xsn files. In this case you don´t have any chance to open the form from the remote location.

Regards,

"...the system administrator has disabled opening form templates from the Internet..."

One of our users at a remote location (on another organization's local network) is receiving the subject error while trying to open a form. Our users normally download the form from our company site, complete it on their local machine, then email back the resulting .xml file. There aren't any Data Connections that reach back to the source. I know that the restriction comes from a GPO. How is the determination made that the form is coming "from the Internet" in the first place? Is it based strictly on the published location? I do see in the received error message that they're trying to open the form from their %appdata%\...\Temporary Internet Files\ folder, but is that the determining factor? Will they just need to save the form in a more "permanent" location, or re-publish it locally to get past this error? (Assume that we cannot get the GPO changed.) FYI...User is on InfoPath 2010, Win 7 & the form was created in InfoPath 2007.
