After gtarun got it to work I knew that it must be a setting within my specific Infopath. I searched through the options of Infopath and found an option that if selected will disable auto-advance to next field form. I do not recall ever hitting this button but must have. Gtarun, thank you for your assistance and willingness to help.

Re: Help with text box automatically moving to next control when limit is reached

Hello nc1787

I looked at the xsn file, it worked fine for me. It was automatically transferring me to the next control as I filled it in. I don't know what to tell you cuz I didn't find any faults there. I would say, try putting the controls again and apply properties afresh. This may solve the problem

Re: Help with text box automatically moving to next control when limit is reached

I have created a Test Template and attached it.

I have set each Text Box to an 80 character limit and checked the box "Move to next control automatically when limit is reached" When the text boxes reach the 80 character limit they do not automatically move on to the next control, they just stop allowing text input and keeps the cursor in the current text box.

I am confused at why the cursor is not automatically moving to the next control. Any help?

Help with text box automatically moving to next control when limit is reached

I am currently designing a form that will be used for incident reporting for my origination. The form is linked to an access database. Since text fields in an access database are limited to 255 characters and a memo field in the database is not an option either, I must use multiple text boxes on my form in order to store large amounts of text that come with large incidents.

Currently I have 17 text boxes limited at 80 characters stacked upon one another in a normal section. For some reason I cannot get the text to flow from one text box to the other when the 80 character limit is reached. I do have the check box "Move to next control automatically when limit is reached" selected in each of the 17 text boxes.

I have tried everything that i can think of to fix this. I had this feature working in the first draft of my form but it no longer works. Is there a setting that I am missing somewhere?

Thanks for any help in advance.
