We have an applicaton that stored its data in a SQL Server 2008R2 Express database.

One of the tables in our database contains products. I am just looking at what infopath could do when it comes to creating some sort of form to add new records, and edit records in this table.

I have already discovered that infopath won't insert data directly into my sql tables, and that I will have to develop a web service to do this work.

So being new to developing web services, I just created a hello world basic web service in vs2010.

When browsing the asmx file in the browser, each function is listed, and when I try to use the web service in a infopath form it says

Infopath cannot use the selected web service method to submit data because the method does not accept a valid xml data.

So I figure that I have to have a function that accepts XML data, and within the method I process the data, extracting the data values and the inserting into my sql table.

I have not done this before, its all new to me... does anybody have an example they could show me on how to declare a web service method that would accept an xml document as is source, that would then be acceptable to design an infopath form

Thanks
