The easiest and best practice approach to getting data from InfoPath into a DB is to use a web service. This gives you flexiblity to re-design your form later. Also if you are using Browser forms in InfoPath you have to use a web service to write the data to SQL.

We have developed an off the shelf product that is a generic web service and makes the process of getting InfoPath data into SQL very easy. You can read more about the product here: http://www.qdabra.com/en/products/DBXL.aspx including watching some of our demo videos that give you a breif overview. We also have a trial version available so you can try it out yourself.

If you are interested I can also give you a demo of the tool and answer any questions you have, you can send me a message via the forums if you are interested.

We've created an InfoPath form with several dropdowns (selected from a sql database) and a bunch of text boxes that users will enter data into. We'd like to be able to save the individual fields to a sql database when the user clicks a submit button. We have InfoPath 2007 and SQL Server 2005.

Thanks
