Faux Signature not Updating (userName() & now())

I've setup a form that has sections that need to be signed.

Because the digital signatures are not portable from machine to machine, and I need username and timestamps for the signatures in each section I setup a textbox that uses a concat of userName() and now() to record when the section is signed.

It works sufficiently when the form is signed, with conditional formatting so that the box is hidden when unsigned, and shown once signed.

However, when the section signature is removed, information is changed and resigned, the userName() and now() does not change, even when updating from another computer with a different user.

I need the textbox to update at least the userName() when the form is signed, having a log of signatures is optional.

I have some option buttons in the section that is being signed, by adding them to the textbox, and using substring-after I was able to get the information to update when I unsign and resign, but once opened from SharePoint it gives an error message about "custom validation" because a value cannot be changed once digitally signed (not exactly those words).
