You are correct, it is because they are repeating sections. Certain types of controls in InfoPath can't be edited in SharePoint, repeating sections and repeating data of any kind are not editable in SharePoint.

When I review my sample submission in datasheet view, it indicates in the right corner, "Read only”. I have went to the form publishing and tried to promote each field to be editable there but have found the check box to be greyed out, would this have anything to do with them being repeating sections and can you edit these? Please help J

This form is used to publish a list in sharepoint, from where we can extract relevant data to excel for sharing/reporting. Since we needed to make some changes to the fields and structure of the form that will cause the existing data to be lost upon reopening the infopath docs we wanted to recapture the existing inputs by to editing the data for the changed fields in a datasheet but it seems that by default sharepoint lists that has been published using an infopath form is READ ONLY. Is there any way to get around this either by updating the list using "edit in datasheet" option or any other work-around? or does the controls in the sharepoint form simply prevent this?

I am sorry if this has been posted somewhere else but I was unable to find anything that addresses this specific challenge.
