We did it on a slightly different way, using rules on the dropdownbox to populate the other fields, using the secondary datasource. Worked like a charm :-)

Re: Getting the display name from a lookup dropdownbox as a value

If you have hardcoded the dropdown using the Designer and entering values directly into it, you may need to copy those values into an XML resource and file attach to the solution. Then, you can reference the file and use filtering to find the display value you want.

If the dropdown is populated from a database, you can use filtering to get at the display value. It should just be one of the nodes in your secondary data source.

Getting the display name from a lookup dropdownbox as a value

Hi,

I have a dropdownbox on my infopath form that looks up values from a list from the same SharePoint site. It is populated with application names, and I use the same dropdownbox to get the application ID.

'Application A' has application id 001
'Application B' has application id 002

The application id number is setup as the value, the applicationname is the displayname. Thing is, I need both the application name and the id as a value. Now the application id is automatically filled into a field when I select an application, but I also need the name of the application in another field.

Any ideas on how I can accomplish this?

Thanks!
