I have created an Infopath form for training request , this form basically collects all the training request related information.

I have an Access database which is connected to this Infopath form.

I want to publish this form on the sharepoint Site , so that all the users can access the form and add their training request. When they click on Submit button the data should be inserted in to the Access database and than we were planning to generate reports using Excel Macros using Access Database.

Please if you can let me know how we can achieve that , also is there any better and quicker approach to convert Access Database into SQL ???

We want to use Infopath , Sharepoint to publish the forms and Access to collect the data.

Awaiting your positive response at your earliest convenience.

Many Thanks,

Himz

how would you look at it directly?

the actual database is just text and numbers and pretty short and simple...

the forms are quite basic in infopath also.

The issue is that publishing an Access DB to SharePoint sounds really cool and can be acceptable, in pretty basic scenarios, but I have not seen it really work, at least not with InfoPath integration.

In reality your database is not really available there or hosted, they have just built a list view of it. So the interaction is rather limited.

That is where if you had a live database to work against then standard InfoPath functionality can work.

If you want me to look at it directly let me know.

Re: NEED info on setting up 'database' on sharepoint to be written to and read from..would like to use infopath

not totally sure...

access publishes the database as a 'list' on the sharepoint sight.

There are many things built in or 'out of the box' then probably an INFinite amount of things you can do with custom code.

in order to do what i want...somebody pointed me to this page

http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc162745.aspx

EEESH, how 1994 of microsoft to make this so diffucult

Re: NEED info on setting up 'database' on sharepoint to be written to and read from..would like to use infopath

Can you use SQL instead of Access on the hosting site?

If you want, send me an email and I can maybe take a look at your requirments and come up with an ideas of how it can be accomplished.

NEED info on setting up 'database' on sharepoint to be written to and read from..would like to use infopath

I'm learning tons on access 2007, sharepoint(we use Sharepointhosting.com for WSS 3.0) and infopath 2007.

I made a Nice simple database OFFLINE that works with infopath and acesss. I WISH I could create the same setup on Sharepoint.

I can publish the access 2007 database to sharepoint and see the list in datasheet view so that works. I can create an infopath form and in data connections select

'create new connection to RECEIVE data' which lets you choose fields from sharepoint site list.

but 'Create new connection to Submit Data' does NOT work the same way?!? you can't choose a list on the sharepoint server and fields to Sumbit data too.

All I can get it to do is sumbit and XML file to a folder on the site when the submit button is pushed.

Hopefully this is clear on what I want to do...don't really care how it gets accomplished. Just want to add records to the sharepoint site when people fill out forms and hit submit button and then be

able to QUERY those records using query forms.

Sounds simple enough.

THANK YOU VERY MUCH for any help...i'm beating my head against the wall
