InfoPath can do everything you are looking for but really needs the central data repository to aggregate this data.

This could be done via a PC with SQL Express.

Typically you would have your InfoPath forms be the standardized format of collecting the information and routing it back to the database. Then you can use Excel or SQL Web Reports to analyze and report on the collected data.

I have a similar internal InfoPath application called Project Tracker, if you would like to see a demo contact me via email.

Need help to create a status reporting application.

Hi All, Thanks for reading this post. New to MS Infopath and XML (had been an mainframe programmer, infact the only programmer in the group). I have also bought a book on Infopath, XML but going through this is taking so much time. I need to develop a status reporting form(s) for a group that is distributed across 7 locations. XL sheets are creating a HAVOC ! and admin in on the verge of declaring herself mentally unfit. We cannot do a lot of programming and maintaining a database on a central server is not something we want.

Is it possible that the team can enter their allocated work, plan upcoming milestones, and record their effort against each work. Admin will collect all the various data items each week from the team (just like XL sheets today) and pull "consolidated" reports out of it and then send the consolidated file back to all the team. Next week the team again starts entering the time with the consolidated file as the data. This way on an ongoing basis the progressive status could be captured.

I don't know whether I made sense, what I am hopin is that the XML files that gets created can be used to exchange data. Please let me know what approach can I take.

Appreciate any help and possible direction.

Warm regards
Pritam.
