I'm wondering if there is a way to keep from losing the binding and/or rules?? If not, would it be more worth my while to recreate the form and all of the rules associated with it or just try splitting the table in two and use the primary key? Thing is that I have other forms that I use to submit even more than 186 fields to a database but they are broken out into several tables...

Oh, and I was able to modify an existing record just fine. I used the second view to select the record and switched back to the default view and it displayed all the information just fine. I added some additional information and was able to save it just fine. When I went to create a new record I received the error though... BUT, I have been able to submit using this form just fine previously.

I'm rambling now but it is rather unexplainable. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. Didn't know if it may be a known glitch... or something someone else had experienced.

Thank you. I'll post my outcome but suggestions are always welcome in the meantime! =)

Re: Infopath form giving "Query is too complex" error when submitting to MS Access db

So is this happening on new records or modifying an existing record or both? The record look up is working fine? You are getting all of the data?

When you view the data connections does it say both receive and submit? That is one clue if the submit is broken but I believe you would not get this error.

I would create a new for as a test and just use the default form. Drag all query fields on to the top section and all the data fields onto the bottom section. Just drag the groups to make it fast and then try to query and submit a record and see if that works. If it does then it is something in your form, if not then it is something with the database.

The problem is happening when you open the form and fill it out and hit submit. The error Query too Complex is displayed. I have other forms that have just as many fields but submit to more than 2 tables just fine. I am not sure if splitting my table out might help or not. The 2 tables are linked with a primary key and the database is on a shared network drive. I'm very familiar with the performance issues of Access when stored on a LAN but I'm still new to Infopath and it's presented a whole new issue as it would seem!!

Thanks for your assistance Clay! It's MUCH appreciated!

Re: Infopath form giving "Query is too complex" error when submitting to MS Access db

Hi Dawn.

So you have created a InfoPath from from scratch as a database type? Are you referring to querying the data, to see it in the form or submitting it, after you change it in the form, back to the database?

These two tables must be related with primary keys or you would not be able to submit them.

Can you display the data in your form? With a blank query field or with a specific one (ID = 1)?

Where is the dat located, on the local machine or across the network?

I do not think there should be a limit but performance could be a factor.

Infopath form giving "Query is too complex" error when submitting to MS Access db

I've read a lot of articles about the limits of ADO and DAO etc, etc, etc... but I need someone to put that into a newbie's terms. I'm trying to submit data to 2 tables in an Access 2003 database. One table has about 20 fields but the other table has about 185. I'm not using a query such as many of the postings I see have mentioned so I'm not sure what the issue is.

Is there a limit to the number of fields Infopath can submit to a table at once??

Thanks in advance for any advice!
