Yes, they add new sections. Each section represents a new system. This form could have several "systems" sections on it. They keep adding rows to table 1 then table 2 shows products that "fit" table 1 criteria. Everything works ok until a second section is added for a new system. When they configure a new system in the second section, it still displays data based on the first sections Table 1 "footer row data". I tried adding a new row below the footer of table 1 and inserted repeating table 2 into this new row. So I believe I have table 2 inside table 1. Is this what you meant? I have a repeating table within a repeating table. I have tried running this and it still is producing "first section, table 1" only results. I also forgot to mention that table 1 rows are filled out first by using a drop-down control in each row where they select from options to auto-fill all of the criteria in each row. This "Point Style" drop-down is connected to another sharepoint list. Once these table 1 rows are filled out, the columns from table 1 are totaled into the footer of table 1. I use these column totals for my filter criteria in table 2 "Suggested Controller Configurations". I am sorry for this "can of worms" we've opened. I appreciate you help, though.

Ray

Form example again:

Re: Repeating Table(s) within a Repeating Section Problem with conditional formatting hide controls.

Do they actually repeat the sections? Does each section represent an order?

So they are building table 1 from data viewed in Table 2.

Table 1 is bound to the main datasource and saved in the form. Table 2 is bound to the secondary data source (SP)

As they add information into a row in table 1 you want to display the relevant data from table 2.

You really should add the table 2 repeating section into the repeating table of Table 1 and I think you would get the functionality you are looking for.

Instead of current() you could try last() for table1. Do you increment each row? you could use the highest row number to get the key information from Table1 too.

Hope this helps

Re: Repeating Table(s) within a Repeating Section Problem with conditional formatting hide controls.

Hello Clay,

Actually, I have a repeating section with two repeating tables in it. Not a table within a table. Table 1 (Main Data source) users insert rows, I total the rows in the footer of table 1. I take those totals from table 1 and add conditional formatting to table 2 (Secondary sharepoint list datasource) to hide rows in the sharepoint list table based on those Total field values from table 1. The filtered information that results is used to just display a list of suggested products that will work with table 1's criteria. It would be nice if they could select from this list a well and have populate a field in table 1. But beggers can't be choosers. Thank you for taking the time . I appreciate it.

The user insets a new row into the repeating table which has another repeating table within it.

You may need a "lookup" button which grabs the current criteria and then filter the products list instead of trying ot use current().

What are you doing with the information? Does it get stored in the form or do you move it into a database when they save it?

I think from an architecture standpoint and best practice it may help to interact with the product and inventory databases directly to keep it simpler and help performance.

Let me know if there is anything else you need.

Re: Repeating Table(s) within a Repeating Section Problem with conditional formatting hide controls.

Thank you Clay for the quick response.

I did run into my sharepoint list only returning 100 items. I took care of that problem earlier in my development. I have tried the technique you have recommended with using colors instead of hiding. My problem still remains the same. The Additional sections second table will only display data based on the first section, first table criteria only. Not the current sections first table. Is my problem more with having separate tables within the same section? Will the current() function work in this case? Do I need to bind the two tables together somehow? I am sorry for my lack of experience here. I guess this shows that maybe my sections are not nested properly?? Any suggestions to correct this are greatly appreciated. P.S. I will take a look at the Qdabra DB Accelerator Suite if I can't solve this with condtional formatting. Thanks again.

Re: Repeating Table(s) within a Repeating Section Problem with conditional formatting hide controls.

You would need to check and make sure your repeating sections are nested properly. I would have a test form which does not try to hide but verifys this "drill down" and lookup peice, ussually I use coloration to verify it is identifying what I want it to. And that all the information is being returned. If you have more than 100 items in your sharepoint list than it may not be returning all the information you need.

I would also recommend you look at the Database Accelerator suite of web services. Qdabra Database Accelerator Suite Version 2.1.2815 - Developer

With DBXL you could actually query each sub table for the specifically selected information rather than getting everything and filtering, which would help performance. It also give you the ability to report on the sales activity with SQL reports in realtime as forms are completed and processed.

If you would like more information or a demo you can send me an email by clicking on my name on the left.

Repeating Table(s) within a Repeating Section Problem with conditional formatting hide controls.

Hello,

I was hoping someone could help me. I have an infopath 2007 form that I am developing to help our sales dept. configure new systems for quoting purposes.

This "configuration" form has a repeating section with 2 repeating tables. The first table allows them to add system criteria needed and the second repeating table within the same repeating section is connected to a secondary data source which is a sharepoint list with "products" in it. When the first repeating table is filled out. My second table will display "available" products that meet the criteria selected from the first table. I am basically hiding rows on the second table that do not meet the criteria of the first table. This works fine for the First Repeating Section. But when I add a second section and try to configure a additional system, the second table still displays available "products" criteria from the first System section. It will not filter out the secondary display table based on the current System section. I have tried using the current() function in my condtional formatting rules with no luck. So my goal is to have each section display it's own relavent view of the same data source. Thanks for your help.

Form Example:
