Word cannot provide the control and features required for an enterprise solution.

With the Database Accelerator web service suite you can have a solution which has security, process control such as assignment and work flows, all saved into a SQL database for reporting and analysis. This can be integrated with SharePoint as well.

Qdabra Database Accelerator Suite Version 2.0 - Developer

Feel free to contact me directly if you would like a demo or have more questions.

Using Infopath to produce a document

Hi,

Our claims dept needs to be able to produce documentation relating to claims that they are working on.

When they are finished handling a claim they need to be able to select a template from a list of available templates and fields in that document should resolve with information relevant to the claim they are working on. The user then should be able to add additional information to areas of the document where they are permitted to add content. This content should be able to be formatted etc.

I'm wondering if Infopath wouldn't be better for this that MS Word because the final forms can be hosted in Sharepoint and certain fields can be locked down etc. Effectively the user would be filling in fields on a form though those fields would appear as document areas. The form also needs to go through an approval process and be printed at the end,

Has anyone used Infopath for this or have comments about this as an approach

Thanks

Johnny
