I have never used the control but added it like 3 month ago. Now I just tried to do the print preview and got the same error message you mentioned. I deleted the custom control and repeated your steps to add it again. Now it works. May try this as well to delete it and add it again. In my oppinion you havn't done anything wrong.

Re: Excel worksheets / one form updates another

When I try to install the excel control....I get a dialog box that states:

"Specify Installation Options......Forms using this ActiveX control require the control to be installed and registered on all user's computers. You can install and register the control by packaging a Cabinet (.cab) file with your template."

Then it asks me if I can to include a cab or not.

I'm 99% sure that all users have the same control on their PCs. If I answer the question as "Don't include a .cab file", the next dialog box opens and states....

"Specify a Binding property......Bind an ActiveX control property to a field in the form's data source; this allows data associated with the control to be saved.

I have answered this as DO NOT BIND.

It then opens up another dialog box that states

"Specify an Enable or Disable Property......To enable or disable the ActiveX control in response to rules or digital signatures, specify a property for the enabled state.

I have answered this as NONE.

When I do the above - sure enough it works. I was able to put an excel worksheet in the form - and when I preview the form everything works.....

HOWEVER - when I do a print preview - I get an error message that states: MS Office InfoPath has encountered a problem and needs to close.

then it just closes down Infopath.

I'm almost positive it has something to do with me NOT binding it or something.

Can you help?

I haven't done you other suggestion as I'm working on this one first.

Thanks a lot

ROCK ON!!!

Re: Excel worksheets / one form updates another

@1: Yes open your infopath form, select controls from the taskpane and then on the very bottom click add or remove custom control. now browse to Microsoft Office Spredsheet 11.0. there you go now you can add the spredsheet into your form.

@2: Yes this is also possible but requires you to write quite a bit of code and make use of the newfromsolution method. I would however suggest another way. Why don't you just create a second view in which you show only the requried fields after the form has been filled completely. you can use this view as the print view for example.

Excel worksheets / one form updates another

Sorry about the confusing subject title....I have just two questions, and I can't seem to find a topic that's related

1. Can you insert into a form a blank excel worksheet (kind of like you can into a word document)? I know that I can insert a table, but I need an excel worksheet so that it can calculate the fields.

2. Once a user opens my form and begins to complete it, can what's being inputted be inputted (inserted) into another completely different form? In other words, I have a form that's approximately six pages long, with over 100 fields that need to be completed. However, for a quick summary, I need only a couple of those fields in another form. I'm hoping that by connecting the two forms, as one is being completed, the other is too. Does that make sense?

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks a lot
