And if you are using InfoPath 2007 you do have the option of making entire views read only. However, it's not backwards compatible with 2003 users, they can still edit.
Re: Disabling all controls/fields in a view

Hello

Did You try creating another Read only view where all the fields and controls are readonly(disabled) and switch to this view whenever you want i.e, after a certain event

Re: Disabling all controls/fields in a view

Since I do not know of a way to make sections read-only I think you are stuck with it by field. The only suggestion I would make is changing the form design not to show the same data as many times or designate one view for entry and have the rest as read-only. Often putting a little bit more structure to the process or controling user interaction more can make the form much more manageable to create and manage.

If they do not have to be variable then the easy thing is to convert them to expression boxes which are automatically read-only. Or have one section that is editable and one that is not and use conditions to control which one appears.

Hopefully one of these ideas helps.

Disabling all controls/fields in a view

Hi guys,

I've had a look throught he forums in regards to my subject above, but I couldn't quite find what I want to do.

I know it's possible to hide form controls using conditional formatting,
and then simply setting a "global" flag that triggers that, but I am wondering if there isn't a "better" way to do this.

I have a form with multiple view, and depending on workflow certain views will need to be made readonly after a certain event (say one section was completed entirely).

I am trying to find a way to do that, rather than having to apply a conditional formatting rule to every last field in each view (and there are heaps).

The only other option I could think of is to compile a list of Xpath's for all the controls which I could then use to iterate over to programmatically hide the controls in question (if that's even possible I don't know)

Any hints would be much appreciated.

Thanks
Ben
