Thank you so far for your help.

Nevertheless I'm interested in the following question: is there is a way to access and manipulate the view.xsl file directly out of form code? (For example after clicking on a button)
Unfortunately I didn't find any information on this topic in the MSDN or here in the forum.

Does anyone of the experts here in the forum knows if this is possible? And if yes, how could this be achieved?

Regards,
Mario

Re: Displaying result of a web service

Hi Mario,

What about a rich text field? You have to be able bind the data in the web service to a control of some kind in InfoPath. Are you looking to be able to manipulate the text as you might in Word or in a web page?

Ted

Re: Displaying result of a web service

Hi,

first of all thank you very much for your anwser.

I'm sorry, I fear I have not pointed out problem clear enough. ;-) Just getting data from a web service into a form (as described in the article you sent me) is no problem.
What I want to do is to display these results not in a specific UI element (such as a Textbox, DropDownBox, etc.) but as "normal" text below the search field (because I need to have full control about formatting the result from the Webservice with style sheets).
To do this, I think I need to manipulate the view.xsl directly. Or is there another way to solve it?

Regards,
Mario

Re: Displaying result of a web service

Hi Salebeck and welcome to the InfoPathDev forums.

You can use a web service to do this, this is a very common use of InfoPath.

Have you taken a look at this tutorial on MSDN:
<br /http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms788208.aspx

Ted

Displaying result of a web service

Hi,

I just started to learn InfoPath and have the following question:

I want to develop a form with an input field and a "Search" button.
The user should have the possiblity to fill in a key word in the input field and click on the button.
By clicking the button, a web service should be called which returns the search results.
These results should appear in the form as plain text below the serch field.
This means that I have to change the UI dynamically.

How can this be done? Do I have to manipulate the view file (e.g. view1.xsl) directly?
Is this possible in InfoPath 2003? Or is there an easier way to realize this functionality?
unfortunately I wasn't able to find any information on this topic yet.

Hope that someone can help me with this problem. Thank you very much for your help in advance.

Regards,
Mario
