I used Regform utility (available from InfoPathh SDK) to change the template (.xsn form file) to a trusted form (another .xsn form file)that can be installed on others PCs.
Re: istributing form templates that work on other PCs

Thanks Shailaja and Schung

To answer Schung:
I have tried both saving and publishing the form template to a sheared folder and both did noy let the users open the form template file on their PCs.

To answer Shailaja:
I checked my form options and found that it is using "Domain" level security. I tried to open it in the design mode on another PC and it works. But is there a way that would let the users open the template in the filling mode without first opening it in the desgin mode. I have read about installable forms and I do not know if my answer is there or not.

Any suggestion?

Khaled

Re: istributing form templates that work on other PCs

Hello Kelsawy and welcome to Fourms,
One question that I have for you is – Does your form has Domain level Security? If yes then users whoever are using your form should locally publish the template or open the xsn in design mode and save it at the same location. Form which has Domain level security cannot be opened directly as it searches for the actual location where you have saved it or published.

Hope this helps!
Re: istributing form templates that work on other PCs

Just a clarification. On your #3, did you save or 'PUBLISH' the form.
You should publish using 'To s shared folder on this computer or on a network'
istributing form templates that work on other PCs

Forgive me if my question is very basic. I am fairly new to InfoPath.

1- I am using InfoPath 2003 updated with service pack 2.
2- I have developed an InfoPath form template (.xsn file).
3- I have saved the form template in a shared folder with reading (not writing) privilege for a group of users.
4- I want the group of users (who have InfoPath 2003 installed on their PCs) to be able to open the template file (or copy it on their local HD and then open it) to fill it and send back their xml files.

It looks that there is something (in security) more than simply giving access to a file and filling it in somebody else#%92s PC. The other users are getting an error that they can open the InfoPath template file.

Any suggestions?
