However it now lists everythign instead of just the big things. if i have type=big then i get a list of only big things but i have repeating values. How do i properly combine these filters

Re: unique cascading list isnt working

no one else has any ideas?

Re: unique cascading list isnt working

i made a mistake when i pasted it into the forum. i have the type as big.

/equipment/equip/@class[(../@type = "big") and (not(. = ../preceding-sibling::equip/@class))]

i pasted the line from the wrong table. above is the proper line.

Re: unique cascading list isnt working

Hi InfoPathProblems and welcome to our forum,
Isn't it because you are filtering on @type="encl" instead of @type="small"?

unique cascading list isnt working

I am new to infopath forms and i am basically done. i found the how-to on cascading listboxes but i have run into a problem. when i tried to implement it with my own data the unique filter blocks everything out.

here is my xml file.

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
<equipment>
<equip type="big" class="high" model="111" />
<equip type="big" class="low" model="222" />
<equip type="small" class="high" model="333" />
</equipment>

then my info path has a repeating table with three fields. the first two connect to class and model and the third is text box. I have the first two list boxes filted with type = "big". later in the form i will create another repeating table for the small items.

so my current xpath for class looks like
/equipment/equip/@class[(../@type = "encl") and (not(. = ../preceding-sibling::equip/@class))]

this blocks out all entries instead of limiting it to unique entries. i have played around with the expression forever and it displays all or none. i know i am missing something simple but i cannot figure it out. please help.
I eventually will have another repeating table
