The way to think of attachments in InfoPath is just like for Outlook emails. A file attached to the form is stored with that form. When opening the attachment directly you are editing the attachment directly in place. If you open then Save As to another location, the attachment is still where it was, but you've saved a second copy. You can open and save that second copy but it will not affect the attached version.

This is the same behavior when you attach a Word document to an Outlook email message. Does that help explain the behavior?

Attach files control and temporary internet files

Hi Guys - I'm looking for help from you infopath experts out there.

After I have attached a WORD file to my infopath form on the sharepoint site and I click on 'save' it just saves to a temp internet file in my windows profile.

Also whenever I double click on the attachment even after I have saved it to another directory it just goes straight to a temp internet file instead of the original file on my c:\ drive. Any help would be fantastic - its driving me nuts. Thanks

Steve Wells
