My supervisors don't see InfoPath as being very reliable - they want something that is guaranteed to work for all users with no tweaking. I've spent a LOT of time on this form and we're losing a lot of functionality by "dumbing down" to SharePoint only, so I'm rather upset about this development. Anyone know how to avoid custom browser modifications, or anything else I can do to make InfoPath seem more reliable?

Thanks,
Anna

Re: User Roles - Help!

Ted,

Wow, I didn't realize that was such a common fix - thanks for letting me know! In the end I think that is going to be the easiest way to fix this for you. How many users are you talking about?

Re: User Roles - Help!

I was able to get it work when I added the site to my intranet zone as the article suggests, but I don't think that will be an acceptable solution for my users.

One thing that may be a little different with my scenario is that the SharePoint site is in another domain - so I had to install InfoPath on a machine in that domain in order to get at the domain's users and groups. The form won't even open from a machine inside that domain, though. Maybe it has something to do with this?

Any other suggestions?

Thanks,
Anna

Re: User Roles - Help!

Hello,
Did you tried this one at the Link below?
<br /http://www.infopathdev.com/howto/tutorials/default.aspx?i=010d815fd99f491d896f2e9a02d6c0ab

Hope it helps you.

User Roles - Help!

Hello,

I'm trying to get user roles to work in my InfoPath form. I've tried using both users and groups from my Active Directory domain, and the preview works fine, but I get the same error every time after publishing it and trying to open the form from SharePoint:

InfoPath cannot create a new, blank form.
InfoPath cannot open the form. To fix the problem, contact your system administrator.

Then after clicking "Show details", I get:

Your user name or group membership cannot be verified because the form's security settings do not permit it.

I changed the form's security level some time ago to solve another problem. The checkbox "Automatically determine form's security level based on design" is unchecked, and "Domain (the form can access content from the domain in which it is located)" is selected. I haven't touched these settings lately.

Are there other security settings hidden somewhere that I need to modify? I really need to get this working, and I haven't a clue how. Any suggestions would be much appreciated!

Thanks!
Anna
