Name field -- bound to MainDB
2. (default) RunQuery button
3. Repeating Table -- bound to MainDB, displays records when I hit #2.
4. Submit Button, with condition "name is not blank" and rule "Query using data connection SecondaryDB"
5. Repeating table, bound to SecondaryDB

Which is what I understood that I ought to have done.

What happens is that #5 displays all records in (the table in) SecondaryDB, regardless of what value is given for name. Button #4 does nothing.

What I want is to be able to enter a value in #1 and have it return results on both tables 3 and 5.

Thank you for the help.

Re: querying a secondary data source

Hello,
Welcome to Infopath Forums

Create a Submit button
Double click this button to open Properties
Select Rules And Custom codein the Action Drop down
Click on Rules and set a condition based on the field you are setting value
Add action Query using dataconnection and add data connection and follow the rules thereof.

I hope this will help you.
querying a secondary data source

How do I query a secondary data source?

To be a bit more demanding, how would I query a secondary data source automatically based on a value used to (also) query a primary data source?

The problem is that I have two completely unrelated databases, and I'd like to query both based on a single input, if possible. I can write SQL, if I need to.

I have read through the newbie forums and done a search of the tutorials, and I am not finding the info I need. I'm grateful for any help, and sorry if I've missed something obvious.
