What I have worked out so far is that it is relating to the time. Even if you just selected the date only, in the XML form it will have it as yyyy-mm-ddT00:00. Now I tested this by changing it to desplay the date and time and changing the time to 23:59 of the day I selected and then it shows correctly in the calender. However I want to avoid asking the user to put in the time on the end date. So the only way I can think of doing this is by changing the time in code. But I don;t know how to do it in code. I have been searching the web for the last 2 days and have found nothing. Does any of you guys know how to get around this problem?

I am happy to send my form on for you to have a look if need be.
Thanks

Re: calendar view workaround

Thanks for the response Ted.

quote:

Can you get the end date to show correctly in another view (is it
just the calendar view that is wrong) or is it anywhere you display that date?

Absolutely.

The start and end dates are both selected by the traveler in the infopath form via a date picker control. When the form is submitted to sharepoint, the dates list as they should when simply listed as text. The calendar view does not work correctly.

Make a simple calendar view showing the difference between two dates in sharepoint list and have it display a date range like this over a monthly view:

"Base calendar on the following interval: Between (1st value) and (2nd value)"

Ensure that you are using monthly view to see what i am seeing.

The end date of the colored bar will not stop on the correct end date. Now if I change the end travel date on the form to the day after what it really should be, the bar on the calendar view reflects the dates of the travel correctly. That is why I am fearing that i'll have to ask the traveler what date they plan on returning to the office (most commonly the day after the end of the trip).

I don't see how the input can be skewed because i'm using the date picker control. So that is why i thought to try to make a calculated value, but my skill in converting to and from date formats w/in variables is still weak.

I can't seem to figure out how to add 1 day to the travel end date and have that value end up in a valid date format. If I could get that to work, when a traveler submits a form, I could just have the calendar view use the hidden adjusted value for the end date and all would appear correctly.

Re: calendar view workaround

Hi kharveyck and welcome to the InfoPathDev forums.

Could you provide a little more information for me?

Can you get the end date to show correctly in another view (is it just the calendar view that is wrong) or is it anywhere you display that date?

It sounds like that date is being pulled from your sharepoint library if I am reading this right. How is that end date being put into the sharepoint library? Another seperate InfoPath form? If so, have you verified that that date is being written correctly? Before you try to write some code or use a rule to fix this you might want to make sure that the values are being written correctly in the first place.

I hope that helps, please post back with any other questions or clarifications if this doesn't help.

calendar view workaround

I have a travel form in infopath that feeds a form library in sharepoint. The form library pulls various fields from the forms. I am using a calendar view to show when people are out of town.

When a travel start date (date only) and end date (date only) are reflected on the calendar view, the end date isn't correctly reflected (month view). It shows the travel end date as the day before the actual end date. I'd like to avoid having another input field asking the traveler the date that they return to the office which would most likely be the day after the trip ends and therefore display the out of town dates on the calender correctly, so i figured i'd include a calculated date value called adjusteddate with a value of tripenddate + 1. However that doesn't return a value in a date format and now the form won't submit to sharepoint.

Can you assist me with the syntax within my formula?
