We usually use qRules (or FormsViewer) and offload the attachments and replace them with a URL to the file, just to keep the XMLs light (and for things like reporting, where it's nice to just have a link to the file). Or, I mean - how often does this need to be done? Getting the files out of the XML could maybe be scripted with PowerShell, but you'd still have the metadata issue, as well as any promoted form properties they may need to see....

Is there a way to export/capture the file attachment from an InfoPath form

Hello,

My team just asked if there is a way to capture the InfoPath form, associated metadata and any attachments from a form submitted to a SharePoint library. From what I can see, my options are limited:

I could Export to Excel, which would allow me to capture the
metadata, but it only offers a hyperlink to the
InfoPath form in the spreadsheet. Then I would still have to
double-click on the file attachment field to get to the document and save it separately.

OR I could open the library in explorer which will present all the forms submitted to the SharePoint library, without no metadata. And again, you would have to open the file to get to the file
field, where I would still have to double-click on the file field to get to the
document and save it separately.

Is there some way to capture both the InfoPath form, file attachment(s) AND the metadata?

Thank you!
