I do indeed have InfoPath Designer installed, and that appears to have worked. Right click manifest.xsf and select "Design". This opens your form in design mode in InfoPath. File > Save As to pack all those files back up into an XSN. :)

Updating InfoPath Form Template

Hi All,
I'm sure this is a ridicuously dumb question, but I've new to InfoPath and not sure how to proceed with this one.
Essentially, I have an existing InfoPath Form Template (.xsn file) that I need to update because one of the fields needed to be changed to a different data type.
To make a long story short, I had a field under the data type of "unsignedByte" which bombed out due to numbers being greater than 255 (the max value of that data type).
Ultimately, the Form Template is uploaded to a company SharePoint site where I have it published as a Site Content Type.
I was able to do the following thus far:
1) Renamed / changed the extension of the InfoPath Form Template from ".xsn" to ".cab". Then, I used 7Zip to extract the contents. This created a folder which contained the underlying XML Schema File (.xsd) for the template. I opened that XML Schema file (using Notepad) and then simply changed the data type from "unsignedByte" to "integer" on that problem field.

But now I'm not sure how do convert this back to an InfoPath Form Template. So right now I have a folder that contains the updated .xsd file as well as 4 other files that were already included when I converted the original Form Template to a ".cab" file and extracted the contents. The other files are called "manifest.xsf", "template.xml", "sampledata.xml", and "view1.xsl". I haven't touched any of these, as I'm not exactly sure how they pertain to the template overall.

Hopefully my explanation made sense, and I apologize in advance if this is already covered in a "newbie" thread but I'm a bit stuck here.

Thanks!
