I've decided to go with a form library because there was just no other way around it.
I'd like to ask if there is a way to remove a default template from my form library? This means that whenever I create a form library from SharePoint end, I don't get an option to choose a template. After creation, I get routed to a microsoft word document that is in the Forms folder. This document is present in ALL form libraries I create. Do you understand why this is happening?

Regards,
Soraie

Edit: I've attached two images of form library creation screens. One is working when created as it allows me to edit the form template in infopath. The other will redirect me to a word document.

Edit2: I've solve my issue! Apparently a previous user had set a document content type that was attached to all libraries. I've removed it and all seems well :) THANK YOU SO MUCH HILARY!!!

Re: Infopath Column Exceeded

So - if your InfoPath form is based off a SharePoint List, you can't get around column limits. If your InfoPath form is published to a library, and is not a list form, then you can choose what data is visible in the library when you publish the form by selecting the columns to promote. That means the fields the users don't need to see in the library views don't have to be promoted. :)

Re: Infopath Column Exceeded

Hilary,
When you say promote, does this mean publish onto sharepoint? I'd like to understand what it means to promote a field.

There are fields that are only needed to be visible in the infopath form and not needed in the list views if that is what promote means?

Is there a way you can pick which fields to promote? Or are they all equally important?

Infopath Column Exceeded

Hi,

I'd like to ask if there is a way to bypass the SharePoint list column limit without modifying the application end.

I have an infopath form with 400 fields. I know this is bad design but I'd like to keep all the fields together. I understand I can create multiple lists and pass data through with workflows but if possible I'd like to keep all the data under one list.

Thank you,
