I believe you will only need to requery the corresponding data connection which the drop-down uses everytime you submit a new entry. Hope this helps.

Regards,

Dropdown populated from external List - add new entry

I have learned quite a bit through the forums here, Google searches, and blogs from various people. I have been able to create a Dropdown that is populated from a separate list. I simply add new entries in the list and they will show up in the form. My question is whether there is a way in the Form dropdown to allow adding an entry that is not listed and have that automatically populate a new item in the List it pulls from.

For example:
Manager List: A set of manager names
Form Dropdown: Contains each manager name from the Manager List

If a manager does not exist in the Manager List, the user can manually type it and populate the Manager List with the new manager.

Is this possible?
