I continued with creating ten views within one Form to complete one full workflows, ie. AD Password Reset. The goal in using InfoPath was to be used solely for demo purposes. But am now thinking about presenting the idea of actually using InfoPath to create semi-automated workflows.

Thanks again for the response.

Re: Form Load rule: Switching views: Dropdown

I meant to get to this yesterday - I'm glad you found that a button does what you need. The form load rules run when the form opens. So switching the drop down value after the form has already opened is too late. If you have an existing form that you were re-opening, the form rule would have fired and then the view would have changed if the value met the condition.

Re: Form Load rule: Switching views: Dropdown

I switched from using the dropdown to a button and was then able to successfully switch views after the button was selected.

yay. baby steps.

Form Load rule: Switching views: Dropdown

Hello.

While my overall goal is to automate workflow documentation, I was going to use InfoPath to create an automated guideline, of sorts, for demo purposes. As I looked further, I found that I may actually be able to create said workflows by utilizing one Form per workflow and create Views as conditions require it in the workflow, ie. changing scenarios will require different support procedures.

For testing purposes, I simplified things as much as possible - each view has a dropdown list. On the default view, I added the Form Load rule 'Field' 'is equal to' 'Windows' Rule type: Action Switch to view: 'Domain' Upon saving and checking Preview it remains at the first view; when selecting Windows from the dropdown, I was hoping the view would switch over to the Domain view that I created. Wherein, there's another dropdown option and so on.

I've tried manually entering the text within the Drop-down List Box Properties as well as creating the dropdown options as Fields and selecting them from 'Get choices from fields within this form' but receive error 'you must select a repeating group or field.' Though, that option is grayed out and don't really think it would be repeating anyway.

If anyone can point me in the right direction, I'd greatly appreciate it.
Thank you very much!
